On Thursday, April 27th, students from Mr. Adam Vaal's fire class attended the Fire Department Instructors Conference at Indianapolis. They were there early enough for the opening ceremony and was able to see the Pipes and Drums honor guard perform. During the time there, students explored the exhibits at the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium. They also met members of different fire departments that Mr. Vaal has worked with in the past. Before returning to Pike Central, they stopped at Indianapolis Fire Station 14 where a former Vincennes University Fire Science student of Mr. Vaal's, Avery Lewis, was working his shift. Avery gave them a personal tour of 14's firehouse and introduced us to some of the firefighters working with him. It was a great experience for everyone.

Congratulations to Austin Henson and Erik King! They competed at the SkillsUSA State Championships in Indianapolis on Saturday, April 15th, in the Precision Machining competition and were very successful. Austin placed 1st and Erik placed 2nd against 17 other students who qualified from throughout the state.
Erik won an assortment of machinist tools and Austin earned a $2500 scholarship to VU. Both students are a part of Mr. Mark Scott's Precision Machining classes. Way to go! #WeArePCHSChargers

PCHS had 12 students who competed in the 7th Annual STEM Challenge at OCU with 30 other teams on Friday, April 14. They were put through a variety of STEM challenges to solve. We had 3 teams of 4 who were sponsored by Mr. Scott, Mr. Vaal, and Mr. Lamey. Although none of the teams won any of the competitions, it was a great experience and they are ready to go back next year and win!
