What an experience! The PCHS Fire Science students completed their live burn skills at the Petersburg Fire Station. The training consisted of controlled burns with certified state of Indiana instructors in a burn chamber and ventilation skills were also conducted. A big thank you to members of the Petersburg and Jefferson Township fire departments. Congrats to all of the students for completing all of their skills!

It was a perfect day to cut up some vehicles in the fire class yesterday. Jefferson Township Fire Chief Chris Young and Captain Doug Mounts conducted vehicle extrication training for state skills with the fire science students. Students used hydraulic tools to spread and cut on parts of the vehicles as part of their hands on training. Some of these tools weigh up to 50 pounds and have cutting forces of over 160,000 pounds. Students had a great time learning how the tools worked but were definitely tired by the end of class.
