
Pike Central Vocational Welding students attended Career Day activities at the Plumbers
and Steamfitters Local 136 Training Facility in Evansville, Indiana on January 17, 2025.
The students were taken on a tour of the facility by Training Coordinator Jason Blondin
and Assistant Training Coordinator Klint Luebehusen. Students learned about entry into
the apprenticeship and accelerated welding program, along with wage and benefit
packages. Students were provided lunch and were given an opportunity to weld in the
facility on various groove welds. The Welding 2 students were given the opportunity to
apply and test for the accelerated welding program beginning in June 2, 2025, following
graduation.

Mr. Morris, his staff, and the Life Skill's students went on a Community Based Instructional outing on 12/19 to the Eastland Square Mall in Evansville. As you can tell, they all had a good time and learned a lot.

Congratulations to Kenadie Houchins! She has written the winning essay in the VFW's Voice of Democracy contest. The topic was "Is America Today Our Forefathers' Vision?"

The Business Professionals of America (BPA) Club took home some hardware today. In the team events, Kaden Englert, Eli Arnold, and Julian Hay finished 2nd in Presentation Team, which centered around Artificial Intelligence (peek the AI generated business professional Dino). In the individual events Kaden placed 2nd in Advanced Word Processing, Lillian Mann placed 5th in Intermediate Word Processing, Faye Barber placed 6th in Business Ethics and Law, Eli placed 6th in Exemptemporous Speech. Kaden, Eli, and Julian will advance to the state competition in Indianapolis. Congratulations to all who competed!



Check out the projects the Construction I and Construction II classes have been working on! Construction I is building a shed for Mr. Vaal while Construction II is working on completing a building. They just completed putting up the trusses last week. Awesome job!
